Who We Are & Who We Serve

Paalupiste is a Finnish screw pile manufacturer. We have been delivering screw pile foundations for over 25 years. From a small start, we have grown into Europe's most experienced screw pile supplier. We have completed projects primarily in Finland and Sweden, but also across Europe, the USA and the Middle East.

Whether you are a contractor, earthworks company, hardware chain, or private builder, we deliver the right pile for the job, from residential foundations to industrial projects.

Flexible Services

You choose how to work. Install the piles yourself, use one of our certified installation partners, or let Paalupiste handle it. We supply professional installation equipment for sale and rent, along with practical training, so your team stays in control on site.

For more demanding projects, you get a complete foundation solution: soil investigation, pile design, manufacturing, and installation, all coordinated by one supplier.

Expertise That Works for You

Over 25 years across different soils and project types. That means your foundation performs as designed and your schedule stays on track.

The Result Matters

Whether you need piles delivered or a turnkey foundation, the outcome is the same: a foundation that lasts, a schedule that holds, and a site that runs smooth.

Our Journey So Far...

The very first screw pile installed by hand, 2001 The very first pile. Installed by hand. 2001.
2001

Paalupiste Founded

Tero and Kaarle met at a jujutsu class and became friends. Kaarle had just finished a conventional foundation job the hard way, and both saw enough potential in helical piles to try something different. They were young, open-minded, and ready to build. Paalupiste was founded.

2002

First Marketing Efforts

Early marketing efforts were simple but effective. The founders created brochures manually with scissors, glue and a photocopier. These were distributed near residential areas to attract interest in a new kind of foundation method.

2003

First Piling Machine

The first piling machine was acquired. It was an old soil investigation rig that was adapted for installing helical piles. This allowed Paalupiste to begin offering installations for real construction projects.

2004

Product Development

Product development took a step forward. The team started building tools to improve both production and installation processes. This laid the foundation for more professional operations.

2005

Excavators Take Over

Experiments with installation methods led to a key insight. Excavators proved far more efficient than crane trucks. This change significantly improved on-site performance and shaped future operations.

2006

First Large-Scale Project

Paalupiste delivered its first large-scale project, installing several hundred piles for a plant nursery. This marked a turning point, showing that the company could handle higher volumes and more demanding jobs.

2007

Own Motors & First Export

Due to challenges in sourcing reliable rotary motors, Paalupiste began manufacturing its own. The same year, the company made its first international delivery to Congo.

2008

Into Hardware Stores

DIY helical piles entered Finnish hardware stores, offering private builders a simpler alternative to concrete. Sales grew quickly and soon expanded into Sweden. The retail business became an important part of Paalupiste's operations.

2009

First Employee

The first employee outside of the founding team was hired. Riku quickly became known for his exceptional work ethic and ability to manage demanding site work independently.

2010

New Facility & Sweden Agent

Operations moved to a larger production facility. International growth began with the appointment of the first certified agent in Sweden.

2011

Team Expands

The team expanded to include welders, a dedicated installation crew and warehouse staff. Sales remained in the hands of the founders, maintaining a direct connection to clients and projects.

2012

Housing Fairs & Sweden Storage

Paalupiste participated in housing fairs across Finland, increasing visibility among homeowners and builders. A new storage facility was also opened in Sweden to support growing demand.

2013

Swedish Retail Chains

The company secured contracts with major DIY retail chains in Sweden, strengthening its position in the Scandinavian retail market.

2014

Railway Infrastructure

Paalupiste began delivering foundation solutions for railway infrastructure. The company acquired an excavator equipped with rail wheels to enable efficient installations along rail tracks.

2015

New Application Areas

New application areas emerged. Paalupiste installed foundations for air domes and sports facilities across Finland, while expanding further into the Scandinavian and Baltic regions.

2016

Projects in Germany

The company delivered projects in Germany and strengthened its ability to operate internationally with mobile equipment and experienced teams.

2017

Belgium & UK

New certified agents joined the network in Belgium and the UK, supporting growth in key European markets.

2018

Czech Republic & Iraq

Two major international projects marked a milestone. Paalupiste delivered rail foundations in the Czech Republic and foundation solutions for an oil refinery in Iraq.

2019

HELIX Product Line

The HELIX product line was launched, offering improved DIY piles with better usability and durability. The new series quickly gained popularity.

2020

Pandemic & Growth

The COVID-19 pandemic increased demand for home and garden construction. DIY pile sales rose significantly. At the same time, Paalupiste expanded operations to Spain and Italy.

2021

Rotopile & Powerlines

Paalupiste founded Rotopile and began operations in Portugal. The company also started delivering foundations for electric powerline infrastructure.

2022

Helicasol Founded

Helicasol Oy was established to meet growing demand in the solar energy sector. The company began to take part in renewable energy projects more systematically.

2023

UK & Latvia

Two significant international projects were completed. Helicasol delivered a large electrical compound project in the UK, and Paalupiste completed a 20,000-pile installation in Latvia.

2024

USA & New Hires

Paalupiste expanded its team with new professionals in sales, engineering and marketing. The company also launched projects in Poland, delivered its first installations in the USA and returned to Iraq for a new large-scale foundation project.

2025

71,000-Pile Project

Helicasol, a subsidiary of Paalupiste, began its largest project to date with a 71,000-pile solar park in Finland. Interest from the energy sector continued to grow, especially in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and powerline foundations.

Screw pile manufacturing and welding at Paalupiste facility

Screw Pile Manufacturing

Your piles are manufactured at the Paalupiste production facility in Finland. EN 1090 certified processes, SSAB high-quality steel and full material traceability come standard with every order. Hot-dip galvanisation is available to EN 1461. Standard pile sizes ship from stock. Custom dimensions are produced to your project requirements with short lead times.

Certified Production

Your piles are produced in an EN 1090 certified facility. All welding follows European structural standards. You can trust that the piles match the design specifications.

Material Quality

Piles are manufactured from SSAB high-quality structural steel (S420–S460). The steel is traceable from mill to finished product. Hot-dip galvanisation to EN 1461 is available for long-term corrosion protection even in aggressive soil conditions. Material certificates are available on request.

Standard and Custom Manufacturing

Standard pile sizes are available from stock for fast delivery. If standard sizes are not the best solution for your site, we manufacture piles to your project requirements. Lead times for custom orders are typically 2 to 4 weeks depending on volume. Whether your order is 20 piles or 20,000, you receive the same certified quality.

Quality System

The production facility operates under ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management) certifications. Every batch undergoes quality inspection before dispatch. Your delivery includes full material documentation, CE marking, and Declaration of Performance.

Screw Pile Installation

An experienced installation crew comes to your site and ensures every pile is driven to the torque that matches the required load capacity. Typical installation speed ranges from 20 to 150 piles per day. The wide range reflects differences in soil conditions, site access and pile size.

Experienced Installation Teams

Paalupiste installation crews have worked on projects ranging from single residential foundations to industrial sites with thousands of piles. Your project benefits from field-tested methods refined over more than two decades and 2,000+ completed projects across Europe and beyond.

Torque Monitoring and Load Verification

Every pile installed by Paalupiste is monitored with calibrated torque equipment during installation. The measured torque values are documented and correlated with designed load capacities, giving your project a verified foundation performance record from day one.

How Installation Works

Screw piles are driven into the ground using hydraulic rotary heads mounted on excavators. The pile advances into the soil without vibration and without excavation. Your site stays clean, your neighbours stay undisturbed, and there is no concrete curing time. In most cases, the structure can be loaded immediately after installation.

Flexible Delivery Models

You can choose turnkey installation by Paalupiste crews, or you can rent equipment and train your own team to install. Both options are fully supported with technical guidance and on-site assistance when needed.

Installation Training for Your Team

Your crew can learn screw pile installation directly from Paalupiste experts. Training covers equipment operation, torque monitoring, quality documentation, and site safety. Available on-site at your location or at the Paalupiste facility in Finland.

Helical pile foundation design and engineering

Helical Pile Design

Your foundation is calculated according to Eurocode standards, taking into account the specific soil conditions and structural loads of your site. Paalupiste engineers support your project from initial feasibility assessment through to final pile layout and load verification.

Eurocode-Based Structural Design

All pile designs follow Eurocode 7 (geotechnical design) and Eurocode 3 (steel structural design), including relevant national annexes. We provide load capacity calculations for compression, tension, and lateral loads based on site-specific soil data. The calculations document factor of safety, pile spacing, and estimated embedment depth.

Site Assessment Support

When geotechnical survey data is available, our engineers recommend the right pile solution for your site. We always recommend a soil survey and are happy to help you get started if one is not yet in place.

Engineering Collaboration

Paalupiste works directly with your structural engineers, geotechnical consultants, and project managers. Your team receives technical data sheets, installation specifications, and connection detail drawings to integrate into the overall structural design. All documentation is provided in formats compatible with your engineering workflow.

From Concept to Installation Plan

The design process covers everything from initial pile selection to a finished installation plan with coordinates, pile types, and target torque values. Clear documentation ensures smooth progress from design to installation.

Helical Pile Design Training for Engineers

Engineering offices can book a training session on helical pile design principles, Eurocode application, and pile selection methodology. Delivered by Paalupiste engineering staff with 25 years of practical design experience.
